CUMBERLAND COUNTY WOMAN FACES MULTIPLE THEFT AND DRUG CHARGES AFTER ALLEGED BUC-EE’S SHOPLIFTING SPREE

A local woman is facing a mountain of legal trouble in Cumberland County General Sessions Court following a string of arrests that culminated in a massive shoplifting investigation at a local Buc-ee’s.

Deanne Renee Henry, listed as homeless from Crossville, is scheduled to appear in court on Thursday, July 2, 2026. She faces eight separate criminal charges spanning from April to June, ranging from public intoxication and drug possession to felony theft. Henry is being represented by attorney Jeff Vires.

According to court affidavits, Henry’s recent legal troubles intensified following a series of alleged thefts at the Buc-ee’s travel center in Crossville.

The investigation peaked on Friday, June 19, 2026, when Patrolman Nathan Ramson responded to a call from dispatch regarding a female inside the store’s restroom. Store staff reported that the woman, identified as Henry, had amassed a large amount of merchandise in the restroom and was driving a black Nissan Xterra.

Upon entering the restroom, Ptl. Ramson discovered Henry on the floor surrounded by numerous items still bearing Buc-ee’s price tags. She was arrested on the scene for felony theft, with the recovered merchandise valued at $1,533.49.

Following that arrest, Buc-ee’s management reviewed historical surveillance footage, revealing a pattern of continuous thefts throughout the month of June. According to police reports, Henry repeatedly selected and concealed merchandise, bypassing all points of sale without paying:

  • June 9, 2026: Stole merchandise valued at $1,044.78.

  • June 11, 2026: Stole merchandise valued at $520.86.

  • June 14, 2026: Stole merchandise valued at $422.98.

During the investigation, Henry reportedly cooperated by directing investigators to a residence where the stolen items were being stored. Authorities successfully recovered the property and returned it to Buc-ee’s. In total, Henry is accused of taking more than $3,500 worth of goods from the travel center.

The upcoming July 2 court docket also includes charges from two separate incidents earlier this spring involving suspected drug impairment in parked vehicles.

April 10, 2026: Deputy Shane Henderson responded to a Dollar General on Stone Burks Lane regarding an unresponsive female slumped over the steering wheel of a Nissan Pathfinder. After waking Henry, deputies observed her drooling and noted a prescription bottle of Gabapentin in the console. Henry admitted to taking multiple pills, and a subsequent search revealed a hidden Percocet (Oxycodone) pill. She was charged with simple possession and public intoxication.

April 27, 2026: Deputy Morgan Alvarez was dispatched to the Exxon in Tansi for a welfare check on a female asleep in the driver’s seat of a vehicle parked by the air pump. Henry was found with pinpoint pupils and struggled to keep her eyes open. She admitted to taking Suboxone without a prescription and was arrested for public intoxication and simple possession.

Henry faces a total of eight counts on the July 2 docket:

  • Four Counts: Theft of Property / Merchandise (ranging from misdemeanor shoplifting to felony amounts)

  • Two Counts: Public Intoxication

  • Two Counts: Simple Possession / Casual Exchange

All cases are being handled through the Cumberland County General Sessions Court.
