Judy Mae (Senger) Parrish, 85
Judy was born Judy May Senger on May 17, 1941, in Fairfax County, Virginia, to Daniel and Helen Seese Senger. She came in to the family as the 7th child, with a set of twin girls to complete the family 6 years later. The large family moved to a farm near Boyds, Maryland, where Judy enjoyed the life there, though there were plenty tasks for everyone to do and Judy had hers. She was tasked with keeping cool the milk from the family’s cows, in the creek and Spring House and getting them to the milk truck when it came around. She also started school while there.
Life changed with the entire family moved to the Miami area of Florida. Since her father was a carpenter, he found plentiful work in the rapidly growing region. The family enjoyed the new opportunities of the beach and water sports while the older sons joined their father as carpenters. Judy assisted her mother and older sister with taking care of the house and cooking and taking care of the young twins. She found a love in doing so and decided that being a wife and mother was her choice for her life’s work.
She married a young Army Private, Roy Eugene Parrish, in July, 1958, settling down in nearby Pompano Beach, Florida. They welcomed their first child, Rodney Gene Parrish, in March of 1959 and then a daughter, Kimberly Ann Parrish, in October, 1963. With their family complete, life centered around their church and the auto repair business Roy had begun. As the children grew up, so did the tumultuous relationship between Judy and Roy. They separated and divorced in 1987, prompting Judy to soon move to North Carolina to be near her mother and sisters. Her daughter, Kimberly, now grown, soon joined her along with her finace’/soon-to-be husband, Tegan, and they too, made their home in the area. Judy’s life changed in 2001 with the arrival of her grand-daughter Victoria Rose Otten. She moved in with them to assist in caring for her and had the greatest joy of her life in doing so. As life changed and Judy began to age, she relocated to Oak Ridge, Tennessee, in 2017 to be near her son Rodney and daughter-in-law Susan, and moved into The Alexander Guest House where she has resided ever since. She enjoyed her life with her new friends and working on jigsaw puzzles. After a lingering chronic illness, she passed away July 1, 2026.
Judy is preceded in death by her parents, Daniel and Helen Senger, her brothers, Leonard, Ralph, Dale, Harvey and sister Doris. She is survived by a son, Rodney Gene Parrish {Susan Burgess-Parrish); a daughter, Kimberly Ann Parrish Otten (Tegan Otten); a granddaughter, Victoria Rose Otten; a brother, Clyde Senger; twin sisters, Lois Senger Faulkenbury and Linda Senger; multiple nieces, nephews, cousins and friends who have become family to her.
