CUMBERLAND COUNTY WOMAN FACES DEADLINE HEARING IN CHILD ABUSE AND AGGRAVATED ASSAULT CASE

A 24-year-old Cumberland County woman is scheduled to appear in court next week to face serious felony charges stemming from an alleged severe child abuse incident caught on surveillance video.

Winterann Marie Porter, residing on Pomona Road, is set for a deadline hearing on July 14, 2026, in the Cumberland County Circuit Court before a Criminal Court judge.

According to official court dockets and investigative reports, a county grand jury indicted Porter on two major charges filed in late November 2025:

  • Aggravated Assault – Strangulation: Under Tennessee Code § 39-13-102.

  • Child Abuse/Neglect/Endangerment (Child 8 Years or Less): Under Tennessee Code § 39-15-401, alleging actions that placed the victim in imminent danger of death, severe bodily injury, or physical and mental impairment.

The charges follow an investigation led by Cumberland County Sheriff’s Deputy Ron Fields and Investigator Sgt. Dustin Jackson.

Investigators contend that surveillance video captured Porter striking her 4-year-old daughter on the arms, grabbing the child by the throat, choking and shaking her, and then tossing her aside while cursing at her.

Following her initial arrest, Porter posted bond—which was recently updated to a $60,000 surety bond via Huckabee Bonding—and has made prior appearances in General Sessions Court. She is currently being represented by the Public Defender’s Office as her case proceeds toward trial.
