Residents and motorists near Cumberland County High School (CCHS) should expect a significant emergency presence today, Tuesday, July 14, 2026, as the school hosts a campus-wide SWAT safety drill.
The planned training exercise is scheduled to take place from 2:00 PM to 10:00 PM.
During this eight-hour window, the CCHS campus and surrounding areas will see a heavy concentration of first responders, including:
-
Local law enforcement officers
-
SWAT personnel
-
Emergency Medical Services (EMS)
-
Various emergency vehicles
School officials emphasize that this is strictly a planned training event. The drill is proactively designed to strengthen emergency preparedness and enhance the overall safety of students, staff, and the broader community.
Authorities advise anyone traveling near the high school this afternoon and evening to remain aware of the exercise. The large gathering of first responders and active emergency vehicles is entirely part of the drill, and there is no active threat to the public.
School officials expressed their gratitude for the ongoing collaboration between local law enforcement, emergency responders, and school safety personnel to ensure CCHS remains a safe environment to learn and grow.
