Cumberland County has wrapped up its fiscal year on a high financial note, driven by robust building permit activity and stronger-than-expected sales tax collections.

According to the latest financial update, the Cumberland County Codes Department saw a busy month in June 2026, issuing:

• 36 residential building permits

• 3 commercial building permits

• 23 general mechanical permits

• 28 general plumbing permits

The uptick in activity generated $60,757 in total fees for the month—a noticeable jump from the $52,900 collected during June of the previous year.

Sales Tax Revenues Boost Local Schools

The positive momentum continued into the July sales tax accrual, which brought in $1,519,928. That figure beat local projections of $1,508,052 by $11,876.

With July’s numbers finalized, Cumberland County officially closed out its 2025–2026 Fiscal Year with a final sales tax tally of $17,615,545.
