A Pikeville woman faces multiple charges after allegedly leading law enforcement on a chase through Cumberland County on Wednesday, July 22.

According to an incident report from the Cumberland County Sheriff’s Office, Deputy Michael Winebarger was stationary in the Vandever Market parking lot when he observed a silver 2009 Volkswagen sedan pass by. The driver, later identified as 36-year-old Tammara Rochell Wilson, was seen ducking and hiding her face behind her arm, causing her to jerk the vehicle to the left.

Deputy Winebarger pulled behind the Volkswagen as it accelerated down Brewer Road. A dispatch check revealed the vehicle was registered to Wilson, who was driving on a suspended license.

When the deputy activated emergency lights near the intersection of Brewer Road and Mutts Road, Wilson failed to yield, maintaining speeds around 65 mph. Despite sirens being engaged and Wilson acknowledging the patrol car in her side mirror, she continued driving, turning onto Turkey Blind Road and accelerating in an attempt to evade the traffic stop.

The pursuit came to an end when Wilson turned onto Coppett Road and stopped in the middle of the lane. Deputy Winebarger ordered both occupants to put their hands out the window and took them into custody without further incident.

Upon questioning, Wilson claimed she failed to stop because she was heading to the hospital to see her grandmother. However, her passenger told deputies he had repeatedly asked Wilson to pull over during the chase, but she refused.

A Crossville City K9 unit was called to perform a free-air sniff around the vehicle, but no narcotics were detected. The passenger was released at the scene with the vehicle.

Wilson was transported to the Cumberland County Sheriff’s Office intake facility and charged with evading arrest and driving on a revoked/suspended license.

Her total bond has been set at $12,000, and she is scheduled to appear in General Sessions Court on August 31, 2026.
