A tense standoff at a local motel ended safely after a man holding a woman hostage surrendered to law enforcement without incident.

The incident unfolded at the Super 8 Motel on North Kentucky Street, where a man wanted on active warrants barricaded himself inside a room with a female hostage. According to Roane County Sheriff Jack Stockton, the suspect threatened to kill both the woman and himself, prompting a heavy police response.
