MULTIPLE WEEKEND MOTOR VEHICLE ACCIDENTS REPORTED ACROSS CROSSVILLE AND INTERSTATE 40

Local emergency services responded to a series of motor vehicle accidents involving multiple vehicles, a commercial semi-collision, and an animal strike across the region on Saturday, August 1, 2026. Despite the severity of several incidents, including a rollover and a median crossover, no injuries or charges were reported across any of the collisions.

Key Incidents:

  • Interstate 40 Median Crossover (10:00 AM): A 2016 Mazda traveling east near the 322-mile marker veered off the roadway, crossed the median into westbound lanes, and struck a 2016 Honda CR-V driven by Christina Dirasian of Tennessee. The Mazda’s occupants, Diego and Madelyn Mullin of Virginia, along with Dirasian, all escaped injury thanks to proper seatbelt use.

  • Genesis Road Sideswipe (12:21 PM): A sideswipe collision occurred on State Route 298 (Genesis Road) involving a 2011 GMC driven by Christian Stephens and a 2014 Toyota Camry driven by Shawn Goins with a 9-year-old passenger. No injuries were reported, though authorities noted the Toyota driver’s seatbelt was improperly worn.

  • Peavine Road Rollover (3:37 PM): A 2005 Toyota Corolla carrying four occupants—including two juveniles and driver Laura Rodriguez Frias of Arkansas—hydroplaned on I-40 near the 322-mile marker. The vehicle overcorrected, ran off the right shoulder, entered a ditch, and rolled onto its roof. All occupants emerged uninjured.

  • Peavine Road Deer Strike (6:21 PM): A 17-year-old driver operating a 2015 Ford F-250 struck a deer while traveling south on Peavine Road near Cherry Branch Road, coming to a safe rest on the right shoulder with no injuries.
