A Cumberland County man is facing felony charges following a domestic incident early Tuesday morning, August 4, 2026.

According to an arrest warrant filed by the Cumberland County Sheriff’s Office, Deputy Caleb Charles responded to a reported physical domestic disturbance at Crestview Loop at approximately 3:48 a.m.

Upon arrival, deputies made contact with the victim who displayed multiple cuts on her face, arms, and hands, as well as fresh bruising around her neck. Officers also spoke with Walter Barley Jr., who had a bite mark on his arm.

Investigators determined that Barley was the primary aggressor in the altercation. According to the affidavit, Barley grabbed the victim by the neck in an attempt to strangle her before pushing her into a bathtub, resulting in injuries consistent with her account of the event.

Walter Barley Jr. was taken into custody and transported to the Cumberland County Sheriff’s Office Intake for booking. He is scheduled to appear in the Cumberland County Circuit/Criminal Court on August 10, 2026, to face a charge of Aggravated Assault (Domestic Related), a Class C felony under Tennessee law.
