The Cumberland County Sheriff’s Office is investigating the theft of nearly $1,000 worth of electronics from a Peavine Road residence.

According to an incident report filed by Deputy K-9 Joshua Matthews, a 63-year-old homeowner reported the theft on the afternoon of August 6, 2026. The homeowner stated that two former residents had recently moved out of the home on Peavine Road.

Upon their departure, the victim discovered that an HP Stream notebook computer valued at $600 and a Nook HD 7-inch tablet valued at $300 were missing.

Law enforcement verified the serial numbers using original packaging provided by the homeowner. While the victim also reported additional property damage during the occupants’ stay, deputies advised her that the landlord-tenant arrangement categorized the damage as a civil matter suitable for small claims court.

The stolen electronics have been entered into the National Crime Information Center (NCIC) database as the investigation continues.

Since arrest warrants or charges have yet to be filed, the suspects names were unused for this story.
