A Putnam County resident is facing a class B felony charge after a multi-agency investigation led to the seizure of suspected child sexual abuse material from a Pinewood Drive residence.

In March 2026, the Cookeville Police Department received a Cybertip from the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children (NCMEC) following a report by Microsoft regarding suspected illicit files. Detectives subsequently traced the digital activity to a home on Pinewood Drive.

On August 7, 2026, detectives executed a search warrant at the residence of William Todd Johnson. Law enforcement recovered devices containing child sexual abuse material that matched evidence gathered during the probe.

Johnson was arrested and charged with one count of Sexual Exploitation of a Minor (over 100 files). He was booked into the Putnam County Jail and is being held on a $250,000 bond.

The Cookeville Police Department credited the successful operation to strong interagency partnerships, specifically thanking the Office of the District Attorney General for its assistance throughout the case.
