Roane County Government has been awarded a Tennessee 250 Grant, empowering the region to significantly upgrade its historical preservation capabilities.

Administered by the Tennessee Commission for the United States Semiquincentennial and the Tennessee State Museum, the funding has allowed the county to purchase vital archival equipment. The new acquisitions include a specialized map scanner for digitizing large-scale historical documents, roller book shelving for secure archival storage, and flat file cabinets designed to protect oversized records.

Local officials expressed gratitude for the investment, noting that the modern tools will ensure Roane County’s unique contributions to American history are protected and preserved to the highest standards for future generations.
