Police responded to an early morning call at River Run Golf Course on September 2, 2026, following reports of recurring trespassing and fuel theft.

According to the Crossville Police Department incident report filed by Sgt. Chrystal Massey, officers were dispatched at approximately 1:00 AM after a staff member reported six unknown individuals on the property. The staff member told authorities he had spent three hours attempting to confront the group before calling police.

The suspects, described as all male and wearing black masks featuring green glow-in-the-dark smiley faces, reportedly hurled rocks at the witness and a worker’s vehicle to deter intervention. Surveillance footage captured the group siphoning fuel from an outdoor storage tank, making off with an estimated 100 gallons valued at $800. Police noted the suspects are repeat offenders at the facility.

Officers searching the perimeter found fresh utility vehicle tracks—consistent with a Razor or Gator—entering from a dead-end on Tennessee Avenue toward the rear fuel station. A blacked-out vehicle was spotted nearby during the sweep, though authorities were unable to make contact with the driver.
