Today, the Pickett County Sheriff’s Office announced the capture of 38-year-old Jesse Wayne Phillips, ending a multi-agency manhunt. Phillips had been featured on the Tennessee Bureau of Investigation’s Most Wanted List and faced charges of second-degree murder following a fatal shooting.

The investigation began after a dispute on May 27 along Parker Road in Pall Mall, Tennessee, where Christopher B. Yates was shot and later died at a hospital. Following the incident, Phillips fled across state lines into Clinton County, Kentucky, driving a small black pickup truck with a yellow hood. Although a local deputy located the abandoned vehicle on Norman Cole Road, the suspect eluded capture for weeks.

Law enforcement agencies, including the U.S. Marshals Service Middle Tennessee Fugitive Task Force, considered Phillips armed and dangerous due to his extensive history of violent crime. With his capture announced by the Pickett County Sheriff’s Office, the intensive search has officially concluded.
