CROSSVILLE SPEC PAD PROJECT NEARS COMPLETION, PAVING THE WAY FOR NEW JOBS AND COMMUNITY GROWTH

The final touches are being placed on the Crossville Spec Pad project, marking a major milestone for local economic development. J Paul Smith Construction/Excavation announced that the construction phase of the 20-acre, pad-ready development site is nearly wrapped up.
Located along Interstate 40 across from Stonepeak Ceramics within the city’s interchange business park, the site features a roughly 200,000-square-foot leveled pad designed to attract large industrial and manufacturing tenants.
The project originated from a collaborative effort between city, county, and state leaders—backed by a $500,000 grant from the Tennessee Department of Economic and Community Development (TNECD)—to boost the community’s inventory of state-certified sites.
Brad Allamong, president and CEO of the Crossville-Cumberland County Chamber of Commerce, previously emphasized the strategic advantage of a pad-ready site over a pre-constructed building. By leaving the land uncustomized, Crossville avoids rigid building designs and appeals to a broader range of prospective industries.
According to a regional workforce analysis, ideal industry matches for the site include:
  • Fabricated metal product manufacturing
  • Electrical equipment component manufacturing
  • Motor vehicle manufacturing
  • Chemical manufacturing
  • Food manufacturing
Incoming industrial tenants establishing operations at the site may also qualify for local incentives, estimated at roughly $5,000 for each new job created.
With construction nearly finished, community leaders anticipate the site will soon bolster Crossville’s economic growth, attract new businesses, and bring valuable employment opportunities to the area.
