A Crossville woman was taken into custody on September 19, 2026, following a disturbance at the Fourth Street Splash Pad. According to the Crossville Police Department incident report filed by Officer Sadula, authorities responded to the park after receiving reports of a physical altercation. Upon arrival, officers spotted a female suspect, later identified as Carrie Scott, who immediately fled toward the rear of the building.

Concerned citizens at the playground directed officers to the public restroom, where witnesses reported seeing Scott discard a white backpack into a trash can. Officers retrieved the bag and detained Scott. While searching the abandoned backpack, authorities discovered her wallet, identification, phone, and charger, disproving her claim that she had merely found the bag by the side of the road.

The search yielded two clear baggies containing a crystalline substance believed to be methamphetamine, with an approximate total weight of 5.38 grams, along with a glass smoking pipe. Officers disposed of the pipe and seized the narcotics as evidence to be sent to the Tennessee Bureau of Investigation lab for further testing. Scott was subsequently arrested and transported to intake, where she expressed remorse for discarding the backpack.
