WOMAN ARRESTED AFTER ALLEGEDLY SHOUTING OBSENITIES AT CHILDREN’S BASEBALL PRACTICE

A local woman was arrested Tuesday evening after deputies say she shouted obscenities at children participating in baseball practice at the Jere Whitson Ball Fields.
Putnam County Sheriff’s Office Deputy Justin Cobble responded to the 1920 Mississippi Avenue location on October 6, 2026, following reports of a disturbance. Upon arrival, authorities located Brandi Mendez in a nearby wooded area surrounded by containers of beer and exhibiting signs of impairment.
According to the PCSO, Mendez initially refused commands to leave the area. She was subsequently taken into custody and charged with public intoxication, in addition to receiving a trespass notice for all properties under the department’s Trespass Enforcement Program. Her bond has been set at $431.50.
Sheriff Eddie Farris emphasized the department’s commitment to community safety following the incident, stating that children and families should be able to enjoy local recreational spaces free from disruptive behavior.
