Emergency responders rushed to Mountain View Road around 6 p.m. last night following reports of a toddler experiencing a serious medical condition.

Authorities temporarily closed part of Highway 27 near the Mountain View Road intersection to accommodate an air medical helicopter, which landed at approximately 6:30 p.m.

After initial evaluations, officials changed transport plans and transferred the child by ambulance to Roane Medical Center. The flight crew accompanied the transport to the hospital.
