DOORDASH DELIVERY DRIVER TARGETED IN NEW IMPERSONATION SCAM IN CUMBERLAND COUNTY

Local law enforcement is warning residents and delivery drivers to stay vigilant following a recent impersonation scam targeting gig-economy workers.
According to the Cumberland County Sheriff’s Office, a delivery driver encountered a delivery-address issue on October 9 and was subsequently contacted by an individual posing as a DoorDash representative. The caller attempted to extract sensitive personal and banking information from the driver and tried to direct them to make an unauthorized ATM withdrawal.
Fortunately, the driver recognized the suspicious nature of the interaction and avoided financial loss. A responding deputy documented the complaint and instructed the victim to immediately contact their card provider.
Authorities remind the public that legitimate delivery services will never ask for banking credentials, passwords, or direct ATM transactions over the phone. Anyone who encounters similar suspicious calls is urged to report them to local law enforcement.
