PUTNAM COUNTY SHERIFF’S OFFICE AND FEDERAL PARTNERS DISMANTLE SINALOA CARTEL-LINKED DRUG RING

A yearlong joint investigation by local, state, and federal law enforcement agencies has successfully dismantled a major drug trafficking organization tied to the Sinaloa Cartel, authorities announced.
The operation culminated on Tuesday, October 27, when the Putnam County Sheriff’s Office (PCSO), the Nashville Homeland Security Task Force (HSTF), and the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) executed a search warrant at 8511 Rocky Point Road in Cookeville.
The investigation, launched in 2025, revealed that the organization was funneling illegal narcotics from Mexico into Putnam County and throughout Middle Tennessee. Investigators discovered that two of the ring’s leaders were operating from inside Tennessee prisons.
Throughout the multi-agency crackdown, law enforcement seized staggering amounts of contraband, including:
  • Approximately 500 kilograms of methamphetamine
  • 60 kilograms of cocaine
  • 20 kilograms of fentanyl
  • More than $375,000 in cash
  • Multiple firearms
  • 5 vehicles
Federal indictments have been handed down against 24 individuals across Middle Tennessee. During the execution of the Cookeville search warrant, Roger Dale Floyd was taken into federal custody and charged with conspiracy to distribute narcotics and distribution of methamphetamine.
Putnam County Sheriff Eddie Farris praised the collaborative effort of the task force. “The amount of arrests and amount of drugs seized prove what can be accomplished when local, state, and federal law enforcement work together,” Sheriff Farris said. “We will continue working with our state and federal partners to keep dangerous drugs out of Putnam County.”
