CROSSVILLE CITY COUNCIL TO HONOR LATE LEADER JAMES S. MAYBERRY BY NAMING NEW ROAD IN HIS MEMORY
The Crossville City Council is set to meet for a work session on Monday, November 2, 2026, at 5:00 PM in Conference Room 317. At the top of the agenda, city leaders will consider a resolution honoring the life, legacy, and dedicated public service of the late James S. Mayberry, a former mayor and City Council member who passed away while in office.
As a lasting tribute to his extensive contributions to the community—particularly his instrumental role in economic development and securing Sales Tax Increment Financing (STIF) legislation—the council will discuss formally naming the road extending beyond Interstate Drive as James S. Mayberry Avenue.
In addition to the commemorative road naming, the upcoming work session agenda features several key municipal discussions, including:
-
Infrastructure & Bids: Reviewing bids for the Warner Field Turf and playground site work, alongside engineering services for the 2024 Parks and Recreation Grant and elevator maintenance agreements.
-
Community Projects: Discussing mitigation credits for the Meadow Park Lake dam project, a variance for Supershow Firework signage, and a budget ordinance amendment for the Peachtree Drive Extension.
-
Grants & Compliance: Addressing the 2026–2027 Alcohol Enforcement Grant contract and a Certificate of Compliance for Weigel’s #126.
-
Board Appointments: Planning board updates regarding the Solid Waste Regional Planning Board.
The public work session provides local residents an opportunity to hear details on these projects and the upcoming official naming in honor of one of Crossville’s most dedicated civic leaders.
