FRAUDULENT “FUGITIVE RECOVERY AGENT” TAKEN INTO CUSTODY BY CROSSVILLE POLICE

A Cookeville man has been charged with impersonating a law officer and possessing drugs by Crossville Police. The report, which was just released by police, says that city units responded to Dunham’s Sports in Highland Square on Sept. 9 for the report of a male subject wearing a gun and body armor. The male suspect, identified as 38-year-old Joseph E. Harmann, was found behind cash registers with a female. He told officers that he was a “fugitive recovery agent” from City Bonding in White County and had called in a “shots fired” alert from a Creston Road location. Harmann was wearing a holstered 9mm pistol and body armor.  He was found to have no handgun carry permit and had no identification that he was working for a bonding company as a recovery agent. His gun was confiscated along with two loaded magazines and $914 in cash found on his person. Also a search of Harman’s car revealed three bags of methamphetamine, 9.6 ounces of yellow pills and 1.6 ounces of white pills, most identified as alprazolam. The female was identified as 30-year-old Jessica N. Kittrell and police reportedly confiscated several syringes from her purse. Evidence was collected at the scene and Harmann was taken to the Justice Center for booking.
