An officer from the Morgan County Correctional Complex died in a traffic accident Tuesday afternoon in Harriman. The accident took place on S. Roane St. in front of the Family Dollar Store, when a car leaving the parking lot reportedly pulled into the path of a motorcycle driven by 45-year-old Kevin Bagwell. Officer Bagwell was unable to avoid the collision and was thrown from the motorcycle in the crash. He was airlifted from the scene and transported to UT Medical Center where he later died from the injuries. The driver of the car was not injured and the cause of the crash remains under investigation.
