CROSSVILLE CITY COUNCIL MEMBER CARRIES GUN TO MEETING
Friday’s Crossville City Council special-called meeting was fairly tame compared to past meetings. However there was a new twist: one of the council members came packing a handgun. As the handful of residents in the audience prepared for the meeting to begin, Council Member Jesse Kerley climbed the steps to take his seat at the platform, everyone could clearly see that Kerley had a handgun holstered in the midpoint of his back. ( You can see the handgun in the picture above taken by reporter Jim Young) Kerley was well within his rights as an open permit holder especially since City Hall has no posted rules against gun permit holders. Council Member Kerley is also the target of an assault lawsuit filed by fellow Council Member Pete Souza. He is scheduled to appear in General Sessions Court on Oct 6th.
