TRIAL DATE SET FOR MAN ACC– USED OF KILLING K-9 OFFICER

A trial date has been set for a Crossville man accused of numerous charges including killing a K-9 officer. Court officials say the trial for 28-year-old Dustin Lee Dixon is scheduled to start May 30, 2018. Along with the intentional killing of a service animal, Dixon also faces aggravated assault, evading arrest, reckless endangerment, theft of property of more than $10,000, and driving under the influence. Dixon reportedly stole a vehicle and led police on a chase that ended at the Obed River Bridge on Genesis Road. K-9 Officer Cain was sent to stop Dixon when he fled on foot. Cain was able to return back to officers after being stabbed multiple times and later passed away. A motion this week to reduce the bond for Dixon was denied. He is being held under nearly a quarter million dollar bond.
