STONE MEMORIAL HEAD FOOTBALL COACH MARK WATTENBARGER RESIGNS TO TAKE NEW FOOTBALL JOB

Stone Memorial High School Head Football Coach Mark Wattenbarger has accepted an offer to be the new head football coach at Sequatchie County High School. He will replace Adam Caine, who resigned after three seasons at Sequatchie County to take a job at Upperman. Wattenbarger heads to Sequatchie County after nine years at Stone Memorial, where he led the Panthers to a 50-49 overall record, including seven playoff appearances in two different classifications. He led the Panthers to back-to-back undefeated regular seasons in 2015 and 2016. The Panthers were 37-19 since 2013, making the playoffs all five seasons. This will be the third head-coaching job for Wattenbarger. He led the Cumberland County High School football program for nine seasons (1997-2005) and led the Jets to three playoff appearances (1998, 2001 and 2002) and was the head coach at Harriman High School for two seasons (1995-96), where he led the Blue Devils to the playoffs in 1995. School officials will start the search soon for a replacement for Wattenbarger.
