CUMBERLAND COUNTY MAN SENTENCED FOR RECKLESS HOMICIDE

A Crossville man charged with reckless homicide in the 2017 death of 21-year-old Kelsey Nicole Brady was given the maximum sentence in criminal court Friday afternoon. Officers say 26-year-old Michael Quinn Dale fired a shotgun during an altercation with another man at an Old Mail Road home in January 2017. Projectiles from the shotgun blast went through a wall, killing Brady. Dale previously entered a plea of “best interest” to the charge of reckless homicide. A best-interest plea means Dale did not admit guilt to any offense, but agrees a guilty plea is in his best interest, given the circumstance. According to state law, the sentence range for a range-one offender for a Class-D felony (reckless homicide) is two to four years. Judge Patterson sentenced Dale to four years in prison, with credit for over 400 days already served behind bars.
