NEW LIFE FOR FITZGERALD GLIDER KITS AFTER EPA HOLDS OFF ON NEW RULE
There is new life for an area company following five rounds of layoffs after the Environmental Protection Agency said it will not uphold for now a new emissions rule. Fitzgerald Glider Kits hopes to return to its previous production levels soon after closing the facility in Jamestown, Tennessee. The Phase II rule regulates gliders as new motor vehicles and significantly reduces the number of glider kits the company can produce each year. EPA has indicated it will continue to work on a final rule relating to the glider-kit production cap.
