GEORGIA DEFEATS TENNESSEE 38-12 IN SEC FOOTBALL ACTION

The second ranked Georgia Bulldogs defeated Tennessee yesterday 38-12 in SEC football action.

The Bulldogs Elijah Holyfield, son of boxing legend Evander Holyfield, rushed for 78 yards, Brian Herrien has 56 and D’Andre Swift ran for 50 yards in the win over the Volunteers.

Defensively, they gave up just 66 yards on the ground and 209 total yards to the Volunteers in the win.

Georgia improved to 5-0 (3-0 SEC) with the win, while Tennessee fell to 2-3 (0-2 SEC).

The Vols offense was so stagnant that it didn’t cross midfield until the middle of the third quarter, and the first instance was by way of a Georgia unsportsmanlike conduct penalty. The ability of Jarrett Guarantano to take advantage and throw a touchdown pass to Josh Palmer and then find Ty Chandler for a 35-yarder in the fourth is the kind of composure Head Coach Jeremy Pruitt needs to see from his sophomore signal-caller. Despite being shut down, the running game fought hard in the second half to at least make it interesting.

Tennessee has this Saturday off and will return to action October 13 on the road in another SEC game with Auburn. Then the Vols return to Knoxville for a home game October 20 against number one ranked Alabama.
