A BUSY WEDNESDAY FOR ROANE COUNTY FIRST RESPONDERS

Emergency services were busy in the county Wednesday evening. Fire crews, along with police, sheriff’s deputies, and the Tennessee Highway Patrol, responded to a crash on Interstate 40 near the Buttermilk Road exit eastbound around 5:30 p.m. The crash resulted in two people being taken to the hospital.

About an hour and a half later, around 7 p.m., one person suffered a medical condition that required CPR at Los Primos Mexican restaurant in south Harriman, near the interstate entrance. Harriman Fire Department first responders, along with Harriman Police and an ambulance, were sent to the scene. The person was then transported to Roane Medical Center (RMC) to meet an awaiting LifeStar helicopter and was flown to the University of Tennessee Medical Center. The person’s condition is unknown at this time.

Around 9 p.m., a two-vehicle accident occurred at the 346 mile marker on Interstate 40 eastbound. The crash required several emergency units, caused lane restrictions, and resulted in slight injuries.

Earlier in the day, around 10:30 a.m., another accident occurred on Highway 58 south of Kingston in the 3800 block. No further details have been released on that incident.
