ABSTON CHARGED WITH AUTO BURGLARY

A contractor for Volunteer Electric Cooperative requested a deputy in Cumberland County to come to the 1800 block of Junior Camp Road after his work truck was broken into. He parked the vehicle and got out of sight of it. He returned to find a passenger side window busted out and a tool bag stolen. A nearby resident, 49-year-old Gregory Timothy Abston, was named as a suspect. The report states officers located a strap cut off the bag in his driveway. Abston allegedly told the victim to “get rid of the law and I will get your bag back within an hour”. The stolen bag was later returned to the owner. Abston was arrested for auto burglary.
