ACCESS ROADS IN MT. ROOSEVELT WILDLIFE AREA CLOSED

The Tennessee Wildlife Resources Agency (TWRA) has closed three access roads in the Mt. Roosevelt Wildlife Management Area in Roane County near the Cumberland County line for illegal dumping. Officers say hunters can access the area by foot. The roads will re-open for the spring turkey hunting season. The area is under heavy surveillance and wildlife officers are investigating leads. TWRA asks anyone with information regarding the illegal dumping to contact the office at (931) 484-9571. TWRA says approximately 10 tons of waste was recovered in that area over the past several years at a total cost of $120,000 to remove.
