ACCIDENT BETWEEN TWO TRACTOR-TRAILERS LOCKS UP TRAFFIC ON I-40 NEAR CUMBERLAND/ROANE COUNTY LINE
The Tennessee Highway Patrol and emergency crews responded to a multi-vehicle wreck at the 340 eastbound mile marker of I-40 at the Cumberland/Roane County line. The crash, which happened around 4:30 a.m. Central, involved one semi-truck carrying two American Medical Response ambulances and another semi-truck. The collision scattered debris and separated a trailer from one of the trucks. After eastbound traffic was closed for nearly two hours, crews were able to push the trucks to the side of the road to reopen the right lane of I-40 around 6:30 a.m. as they continued to clear the scene.
