A multi tractor trailer accident at the 305 westbound miler marker of Interstate 40 has closed westbound traffic. The accident took place just after 1 pm central this afternoon (Thursday, June 22, 2017). The Tennessee Highway Patrol as well as Cumberland County fire and law enforcement are all on the scene. According to troopers, the estimated time of clearing is 4 pm central this afternoon but that could be pushed back because of weather conditions. Eastbound traffic is slow at the scene but is moving. The names of the drivers and their conditions are not available at this time.

Possible detours around the accident scene:

1 – Heading west into Crossville on I-40, get off at Exit 317 and head south into Crossville. Turn right on Elmore Road (at Walgreens) and go to the second light (where K-Mart is). Turn right and that will put you on Highway 70 North. Take 70 North to Monterey and get back on I-40.

2 – Get off at the Plateau Road exit, turn left and go until it dead ends on Highway 70 North, turn right and head to Monterey. There you can get back on I-40.
