ADDITIONAL DETAILS ON MULTI-VEHICLE, MULTI-FATALITY CRASH IN CUMBERLAND COUNTY

More details are surfacing on the crash on I-40 westbound in Cumberland County. According to the Tennessee Highway Patrol, a semi- truck without a trailer traveling eastbound just pass the Genesis Rd. exit, crossed the median into traffic traveling westbound and then struck a car hauler head-on along with a passenger vehicle. The trucks caught fire and gas tanks exploded into a huge ball of fire and black smoke. Three people were killed in the crash, while one person was airlifted by Lifestar to UT Medical Center for unknown injuries. No names have been released at this time. TDOT has closed down I-40 westbound at Peavine Rd. Drivers are being re-routed onto Peavine Rd. to the Milo Limert bypass and back onto Main St. in Crossville.
