ADVERTISER BEWARE
On Friday last week, Deputy Dustin Jackson spoke with a man in the Justice Center Lobby about fraud. The man said he applied for a sticker promotion on the internet to display a certain sticker on his car to get advertisement wages.
The man alleges the company sent him a promotional letter and a check for $4950.89, far more than expected. After depositing the check in the bank, the man said he didn’t feel right about it and asked his bank if the check was real to which they confirmed the check, the name on the check, and the account were all fake.
The fake name on the check read as James Rooney, but so far no suspects are known.
