ALABAMA PIPELINE EXPECTED TO BE UP AND RUNNING WEDNESDAY

Good news at the pumps. Colonial Pipeline has announced that construction on a bypass around that burst fuel pipeline in Shelby County, Alabama is complete. The leak caused a shortage in gas that affected many states throughout the Southeast including Tennessee. The 500 foot segment will be tested and officials expect it to be up and running sometime Wednesday. They say that it could take several days for regular fuel delivery to resume but that once that happens, AAA says that prices should drop. Tennessee, Alabama, Mississippi, Georgia, South Carolina, North Carolina and Virginia were hit hardest by the partial closure of the pipeline. Tennessee and Georgia declared states of emergencies to protect customers from price gouging. As of Tuesday, many fuel stops had expended some fuel supplies in the Cumberland County area including Walmart and Kroger. But many had ample supplies and some prices were even hitting below $2 per gallon again. Gas prices in Tennessee have increased around 15 cents from last week due to the fuel shortage, but the average remains below the national average.
