ALLEGED BOOTLEGGERS ARSONIST MISSES COURT BECAUSE HE’S IN FEDERAL CUSTODY

The Crossville Chronicle reports that Brandon Chance Jones, 27, of Crossville, failed to appear in Cumberland County Criminal Court on July 8 because he is in federal custody. He was indicted on January 25 for arson related to a fire at Bootleggers Bar on March 2, 2024, following an investigation by the ATF and local authorities.
Jones faces additional state charges, including felony evading arrest, leaving the scene of a crash, and driving on a revoked license, plus two cases pending grand jury review. On the federal level, he was indicted for destruction of a building by fire, transferred to federal custody on May 1, and ordered detained after a June 20 hearing.
He pleaded not guilty on June 24, with a trial set for August 11. His local charges are continued to September 16, pending the outcome of the federal case.
