ALTUM ARRESTED ON DRUG AND WEAPONS CHARGE IN CROSSVILLE

A Crossville police officer pulled over a motorist yesterday on Elmore Road for an improper display of vehicle registration.

While speaking to the driver, 28-year-old Joseph Robert Altum of Crossville, the officer reportedly saw a loaded rifle in the passenger seat.

During a consent search of the vehicle, the officer noticed the driver-side door panel was loose. When he shook the panel, a glass pipe with burned residue fell out. Police allegedly located a black rubber glove hidden in the door panel containing a plastic bag of meth.

A search warrant was obtained for the cell phone belonging to Altum. The arrest report states police observed conversations related to narcotics traffic and one conversation regarding making explosives.

Altum was arrested for felony possession of meth and possession of a firearm while committing a felony.

He was taken to the Cumberland County jail.
