ANDERSON AND KNOX COUNTY WOMEN HIT BY VEHICLE WHILE RIDING SCOOTERS IN NASHVILLE

Nashville Metro Police say two East Tennessee women were injured in a reported hit-and-run in Nashville last night. Officers say 27-year-old Rachel Johnson of Oak Ridge and 28-year-old Lindsey Cowan of Knoxville were riding scooters when they collided with a Lexus in the middle of the intersection with Union Street and 5th Avenue North in Nashville. Officers said the driver of the Lexus continued on after allegedly hitting the women. The Lexus appears to be a mid-2000s model ES 330 or ES 300. According to police, it sustained noticeable front-end damage. Investigators said neither rider on the scooters was wearing a helmet. Both women are being treated at Vanderbilt University Medical Center. Police are searching for the driver of the Lexus.
