“APPLE SUPPORT” SCAM COSTS VICTIM IN FAIRFIELD GLADE
A citizen in his 70’s in Fairfield Glade reported to authorities he fell victim to a scam. The report indicates he received a phone call from an individual claiming to be with “Apple Support” regarding a pending charge of $7,800. He was asked to download two apps, “Quick Search” and “Any Desk” on his phone and computer. Once done, someone gained access to the victim’s devices and bank account information on it. He realized it was a scam at that time but was too late. Charges were made by the scammer for gift cards. The total amount of loss was undetermined at the time of the report filed.
Law enforcement reminds citizens not to fall for scams of these nature.
