A two vehicle accident last night (Thursday, August 10, 2017) in Rhea County left one dead and one injured. According to the Tennessee Highway Patrol, a 1997 Honda Accord driven by 48-year-old Jerrod J. Lyons of Nashvville was traveling south on Highway 68 approaching Spring City when he failed to negotiate a curve and went into the path of a northbound 2016 Peterbilt tractor-trailer driven by 60-year-old Don W. Scarbrough of Crossville. Lyons vehicle collided with Scarbrough head on. Lyons was pronounced deceased at the scene. Scarbrough was injured in the accident. Highway 68 at the crash site was closed for several hours resulting in traffic running from Spring City to Crossville to be detoured.
