AUTHORITIES WARN OF SCAM INVOLVING “EVALUATION” OF COMPANIES FOR PAY

Area Police Departments are warning residents of a scam. Scammers have been choosing potential victims, contacting them and sending checks from what looks like well-known companies such as Walmart and Western Union. As a part of the scam, victims are asked to evaluate these companies to receive a check, usually valued at around $2,000. Victims are then told to cash the check and forward the funds to a “certain individual.” Police warned that anyone who has received this request should not cash the check or agree to any terms from the company asking. If you have been a victim of such a scam, call your local police department.
