While many business owners are taking advantage of the situation by charging outrageous prices for supplies such as gasoline and drinking water, Officials with the BBB say that there are bad people out there who scam and run fraudulent activity surrounding the event. They say to investigate the organization that you are donating to making certain they are accredited and qualified to do such work. They suggest giving donations or contributions to such organizations as the American Red Cross or Salvation Army. They also recommend visiting www.give.org. to verify the trustworthiness of soliciting relief organizations.
