BOARD TO LOOK AT WRITING OFF EXCESSIVE SEWER BILLS FROM LEAKS

The Kingston Water Department may be reviewing its policies for writing off excessive sewer bills related to leaks. The sewer cost is based on water used and added to the bill because water used by a homeowner generally flows into a drain into the sewer system, which must be treated. An insurance plan is presently available for homeowners who might experience a larger-than-normal bill because of a leak in the system. The Kingston Water Board will meet tonight (Tuesday, October 10, 2017) at 6 p.m. following the regular meeting of Kingston City Council at city hall. At that time the policy will be reviewed for possible changes.
