BRADLEY COUNTY CONSIDERING HAVING EMS EMPLOYEES WORK 24 HOUR SHIFTS
Bradley County Emergency Medical Services met last night to discuss moving employees from eight-hour to 24-hour shifts. Commissioner Johnny Mull says the county spends a lot of money in overtime pay for EMS workers, so they were looking for a way to cut back on costs. A study says employees would work 24 hours and be off for 48. Some EMS workers are voicing concerns of fatigue if they are switched to the proposed format. Commissioners will vote on the issue in late May or June. If approved, the 24-hour shifts it would go into effect in July.
