BREAKDOWN OF TBI CRIME IN TENNESSEE REPORT FOR CUMBERLAND, ROANE AND FENTRESS COUNTIES

The annual TBI Crime in Tennessee report was released today. The report shows not only the total of various crimes committed in the state but by county and even city police departments. The following statistics for each county and city police department is from that report. The counties are ranked by highest number of arrests in 2016.

 

1. ROANE COUNTY

The Roane County Sheriff’s Department saw a total of 1,006 offenses in 2016. Deputies arrested a total of 2,010 subjects with 1,993 being adults and 17 juveniles. (This total is the highest between Cumberland, Roane and Fentress counties).

In the catergory of domestic violence victims, deputies responded to 27 aggravated assault reports, 139 simple assaults and 4 reported kidnappings/abductions.

In the general category, 5 disorderly conducts, 43 DUI’s, 32 drunkenness and 211 non-family violent incidents took place in 2016 in the county.

In the crimes against persons category, 162 simple assaults took place in 2016. It was followed by 50 aggravated assaults, 4 kidnappings/abductions and 2 forcible rapes.

In the crimes against property category, the highest number went to 183 burglaries followed by 114 thefts from buildings, 98 cases of vandalism, 41 car thefts and 35 thefts from vehicles.

In the crimes against society category, 105 drug violations took place in 2016 followed by 59 drug paraphernalia violations in the county. There were also 10 weapons law violations noted.

 

2. CUMBERLAND COUNTY

The Cumberland County Sheriff’s Department saw a total of 1,696 offenses in 2016. That averages to 4.6 offenses a day. Deputies arrested a total of 1,909 subjects with 1,909 being adults and two juveniles.

In the catergory of domestic violence victims, deputies responded to 23 aggravated assault reports, 102 simple assaults, 7 intimidation incidents and 2 stalking cases.

In the general category, 14 disorderly conducts, 95 DUI’s, 30 drunkenness and 99 non-family violent incidents took place in 2016 in the county.

In the crimes against persons category, 107 simple assaults took place in 2016. It was followed by 47 aggravated assaults, 3 kidnappings/abductions and 1 forcible rape.

In the crimes against property category, the highest number went to 237 cases of vandalism followed by 224 burglaries, 101 thefts from buildings, 100 car thefts, 90 thefts from vehicles and 40 credit card frauds.

In the crimes against society category, 221 drug violations took place in 2016 followed by 149 drug paraphernalia violations in the county. There were also 25 weapons law violations noted.

 

3. FENTRESS COUNTY

The Fentress County Sheriff’s Department saw a total of 549 offenses in 2016. Deputies arrested a total of 473 subjects with 458 being adults and 15 juveniles.

In the catergory of domestic violence victims, deputies responded to 11 aggravated assault reports, 39 simple assaults, 1 forcible rape, 1 forcible sodomy and 1 kidnapping/abduction.

In the general category, 5 disorderly conducts, 30 DUI’s, 7 drunkenness and 8 non-family violent incidents took place in 2016 in the county.

In the crimes against persons category, 70 simple assaults took place in 2016. It was followed by 15 aggravated assaults, 4 forcible rapes, 2 statutory rapes and one kidnapping/abduction.

In the crimes against property category, the highest number went to 40 cases of vandalism followed by 32 thefts from buildings, 24 burglaries, 21 car thefts and 13 thefts from vehicles.

In the crimes against society category, 123 drug violations took place in 2016 followed by 50 drug paraphernalia violations in the county. There were also 3 weapons law violations noted.

 

These are the totals for the county sheriff’s departments in Cumberland, Roane and Fentress.

 

Now, let’s look at the numbers for the city police departments in these counties. They are ranked by total number of arrests.

 

1. CROSSVILLE

The Crossville Police Department saw a total of 1,589 offenses in 2016. Police arrested a total of 1,293 subjects with 1,214 being adults and a staggering 79 juveniles. (This juvenile arrest number is the highest in any city police department in Cumberland, Fentress or Roane County)

In the catergory of domestic violence victims, officers responded to 28 aggravated assault reports, 95 simple assaults, 1 forcible rape and 1 kidnapping/abduction.

In the general category, 69 DUI’s, 98 drunkenness, 15 disorderly conducts and 13 non-family violent incidents took place in 2016 in the city.

In the crimes against persons category, 153 simple assaults took place in 2016. It was followed by 82 aggravated assaults, 7 forcible rapes and one kidnapping/abduction.

In the crimes against property category, the highest number went to 204 shoplifting incidents followed by 142 cases of vandalism, 108 thefts from buildings, 103 cases of credit card fraud, 67 burglaries, 47 vehicle thefts and 67 thefts from vehicles.

In the crimes against society category, 178 drug violations took place in 2016 followed by 98 drug paraphernalia violations in the county. There were also 23 weapons law violations noted.

 

2. HARRIMAN

The Harriman Police Department saw a total of 616 offenses in 2016. Police arrested a total of 452 subjects with 435 being adults and 17 juveniles.

In the catergory of domestic violence victims, officers responded to 14 aggravated assault reports, 42 simple assaults, 3 kidnapping/abduction and 1 statutory rape.

In the general category, 24 DUI’s, 36 drunkenness and 9 disorderly conducts took place in 2016 in the city.

In the crimes against persons category, 64 simple assaults took place in 2016. It was followed by 23 aggravated assaults, 2 forcible rapes, 3 kidnapping/abductions and 1 statutory rape.

In the crimes against property category, the highest number went to 34 burglaries followed by 33 cases of vandalism, 30 thefts from buildings, 4 vehicle thefts and 12 thefts from vehicles.

In the crimes against society category, 158 drug violations took place in 2016 followed by 142 drug paraphernalia violations in the county. There were also 10 weapons law violations noted.

 

3. ROCKWOOD

The Rockwood Police Department saw a total of 618 offenses in 2016. Police arrested a total of 326 subjects with 315 being adults and 11 juveniles.

In the catergory of domestic violence victims, officers responded to 8 aggravated assault reports, 36 simple assaults, 2 kidnapping/abduction and 1 case of incest.

In the general category, 22 DUI’s, 15 drunkenness and 3 disorderly conducts took place in 2016 in the city.

In the crimes against persons category, 57 simple assaults took place in 2016. It was followed by 19 aggravated assaults and 2 kidnapping/abductions.

In the crimes against property category, the highest number went to 94 shoplifting incidents followed by 65 cases of vandalism, 48 burglaries, 25 vehicle thefts, 18 thefts from buildings and 18 thefts from vehicles.

In the crimes against society category, 72 drug violations took place in 2016 followed by 36 drug paraphernalia violations in the county. There were also 3 weapons law violations noted.

 

4. KINGSTON

The Kingston Police Department saw a total of 372 offenses in 2016. Police arrested a total of 307 subjects with 300 being adults and 7 juveniles.

In the catergory of domestic violence victims, officers responded to 6 aggravated assault reports, 27 simple assaults and 1 forcible rape.

In the general category, 19 DUI’s, 36 drunkenness and 7 disorderly conducts took place in 2016 in the city.

In the crimes against persons category, 37 simple assaults took place in 2016. It was followed by 16 aggravated assaults, 5 forcible fondlings and 1 forcible rape.

In the crimes against property category, the highest number went to credit card fraud with 31 followed by 20 shopliftings, 17 cases of vandalism, 19 thefts from buildings, 10 thefts from vehicles and 7 vehicle thefts.

In the crimes against society category, 58 drug violations took place in 2016 followed by 29 drug paraphernalia violations in the county. There were also 4 weapons law violations noted.

 

5. JAMESTOWN

The Jamestown Police Department saw a total of 121 offenses in 2016. Police arrested a total of 82 subjects with all 82 being adults.

In the catergory of domestic violence victims, officers responded to 6 simple assaults and one aggravated assault.

In the general category, 9 DUI’s, 4 drunkenness and 5 disorderly conducts took place in 2016 in the city.

In the crimes against persons category, 11 simple assaults took place in 2016. It was followed by 2 aggravated assaults.

In the crimes against property category, the highest number went to 39 shoplifting incidents followed by 26 thefts from buildings and 4 vandalisms.

In the crimes against society category, 17 drug violations took place in 2016 followed by 5 drug paraphernalia violations in the county.
