BREAKING NEWS: DA DUNAWAY SAYS CROSSVILLE CITY COUNCILMAN IS NOT IMPLICATED IN SIGN THEFT

New information has been released concerning a theft which occurred at a Mockingbird Drive home on Friday, Sept. 30th. According to police, several homemade signs posted on the house and in the yard were stolen in broad daylight by two male subjects in a white 2008 Chevy pickup truck. A neighbor was able to get a video of the incident along with the license plate number of the vehicle which matched a GMC truck owned by Jerry L. Kerley, father of Crossville City Council Member Jesse Kerley. In fact, Jesse Kerley’s name also appears on the police report as a suspect. In a phone conversation with 13th District Attorney General Bryant Dunaway, whose office is investigating the incident, 1057 News has learned that Jesse Kerley is not a suspect in the incident. DA Dunaway stated that a criminal summons for misdemeanor theft has been issued for Jerry Kerley and a second individual identified as William Harwell. Both will be called to appear in General Sessions Court over the matter. DA Dunaway said that is the extent of the investigation at this point. Meanwhile Jesse Kerley is scheduled to appear in court Thursday morning on an assault charge.
