BREAKING NEWS – FENTRESS COUNTY SHERIFF RESIGNS

Fentress County Sheriff Chucky Cravens resigned today amid an investigation from the Federal Bureau of Investigation and the Tennessee Bureau of Investigation. Cravens resignation will take effect April 28, 2017.

Here is the brief letter Cravens sent Fentress County Commissioners today:

Dear Commissioners,

Please accept this email, sent via my lawyer, as confirmation of my resignation as Sheriff of Fentress County, effective April 28, 2017. A letter will follow under separate cover.

It was an honor to serve the people of this county, and I deeply regret the circumstances that have led to my resignation.

Sincerely,

Chucky Cravens

Cravens is a lifetime resident of Fentress County and was a former sheriff and police officer before being reelected in 2014. FBI and TBI agents seized multiple computer files, records and Cravens’ truck. Right now, the FBI will only say it is investigating allegations of impropriety.
