BREAKING NEWS – HIGH SPEED PURSUIT ENDS WITH ARREST ON I-40

(BREAKING NEWS) – At 1:30 p.m. central E-911 dispatch received a possibly armed and dangerous be on the looking for bulletin from the Tennessee Highway Patrol for a red 2013 Ford Mustang driven by 33-year-old David Vann Edwards Jr. from North Carolina. The vehicle was initially spotted in the area of just inside Roane County near the 362 westbound approaching Cumberland County at a high rate of speed. Edwards was allegedly holding his girlfriend and 3 children hostage. Troopers located the suspect vehicle and began the pursuit just east of Cumberland County reaching speeds of over 100 miles per hour at one point. The sheriff’s office began assisting by deploying spike strips in eastern Cumberland County. The pursuit continued west on I-40 after more deputies and Crossville police officers deployed spike strips to disable the vehicle. The vehicle pulled over around the 318 mile marker and the suspect was taken into custody. The subject’s girlfriend and children were uninjured.  Edwards was taken to jail where charges are pending from the highway patrol. No injuries were reported.
